Videos are hot! Not only are videos all the craze, but they are the best way to engage your visitors, readers or customers on your web site. This is why we built a business around producing videos for local businesses.
We feel businesses or anyone looking to built a presence in the media and entertainment industry MUST have some form of video marketing.
For example, YouTube has 3 billion views per day and every minute that goes by, YouTube users upload 48 hours of video per minute!
That is a lot of videos in a twenty four hour period!
So why not get your video up on the internet and have them seen by the rest of the word?
If you don't know how to make videos that can be put on your web site, this easy to follow 8 step process will show you how.
There are only two things that you will need. The first being a camera. You don't have to go out and purchase an expensive camera. But if you do have the budget, definitely check out our picks for the best cameras for Youtube.
But you don't need to break the bank to get a camera. A portable digital camera will work great. For example, the Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera that you can purchase at Amazon will d the job nicely.
As a matter of fact, I own a Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera. It is easy to use, light, portable and most importantly takes HD quality video.
The other thing that you will need is some sort of editing software. For Windows users, you can use the bundled Windows Movie Maker. If you are a Mac user, you can use iMovie.
Here is my 8 step procedure for taking and then to upload to your web site or any video distribution channels such as Youtube.
1- Define a purpose for your video- Are you showing viewer how to do something? Or are you reviewing a product?
2- Write out a script of exactly what it is you will say - Scripts are really good for beginners. If you are passionate about your video subject or you have a great deal of knowledge about a topic that you are videoing, then all you may need are just bullet points to keep you on track.
3- Make sure to check that you have adequate lighting.
4- Define your camera angle - If your video consists of one camera angle and you will not be moving around a lot, place your camera on a tripod.
5- Once you are done recording, playback your video to make sure that it appears and sounds the way that you want it.
6- Transfer your video that you just recorded from your camera to your computer. To do so, connect the cameras USB plug to your computer. Next run the software that you had previously installed onto your computer when you originally purchased your camera. The software that comes with it, will transfer the video from your camera to your computer.
7- Edit your video by using either Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. It at this point you can add soundtracks, insert pictures, import or other videos or modify the sequence of the original video.
You are your own director, so let your imagination go wild! As long as you stay true to the main purpose of why you created the video in the first place.
8-Make sure that you have a YouTube account already created. Upload your video to Youtube. Generate a link that allows you to embed the video on your website or blog.
